2017 New England States Open & District 1
District 1 contains States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, & Vermont
District 1 Manager: Richard White

The New England States Open & District 1 Championship will be held at the home of Richard & Catherine White, 8 Pine Street, Dover, Massachusetts 02030-2423 (map), Saturday, June 24^th, 2017.

Will be held Saturday, June 24 at the home of Richard White, 8 Pine St, Dover, MA.

Format will be round-robin, go-as-you-please. This is a one-day tournament.

Highest finisher from New England will be District 1 Champion, and determine individual state championships.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM, first round starts at 9:00 AM. Games generally finish before 5 PM.

No entry fee will be charged and no prize money is at stake.

All players are welcome but only those from District 1 (ME, NH, VT, MA, CT, and RI) are eligible for district and state titles.

1st place shared by Joe Margolin of Westwood, MA and Glenn Jordan of Cape Elizabeth, ME who split the District 1 title.
Glenn is the first Maine player we've had in a long time and he was undefeated, winning the Maine championship. Joe Margolin again is Massachusetts State Champion.
Steve Kelly commented, "Thanks again to the Whites for hosting our New England States & District 1."
We had 9 players this year with first-timers Glenn Jordan and Arthur Crandall.

The tournament is paired 1st round by the director Richard White and after that, finished players pair themselves with whoever is available until everyone has played each other.
